My "Nerdy" Side
In college I had the wonderful opportunity to teach the basic Food Science lab for two semesters. I loved it because I got to teach enthusiastic (for the most part) minds about what I loved! And not only teach, but experiment with them to see the results. I miss it dearly and since I was already going to post recipes, I thought it would be fun (hopefully) to share some of my knowledge of what’s going on INSIDE the food so that you can enjoy the food as a whole.
Here’s how it’ll work. I’ll pick a topic for the post – for example, gluten. I’ll devote the blog post to the topic and probably inundate you with information. Then I’ll either have a nifty home experiment (like gluten balls) to kind of prove my point, or I’ll post a recipe with that topic so you can apply it (like bread). Unlike my lab, you won’t be tested over anything or receive a grade, but, I also don’t get to be there with you as you experiment and explore. Because of this, I HIGHLY encourage you to leave comments, email me, in order to share your findings. (Note: I enjoy pictures (failure of success) since I am a visual learnerJ). Happy Learning!
