About the mouth, hands, and brains of this website
Maw-geen-cow you ask? Well this happy little diddy is actually the phonetic spelling of a Laotian phrase that means "come eat rice" - (actually spelled Ma gin khaw). This is how my parents got all of us kids to come to the table for a meal. My dad picked it up on his mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Seattle, WA and it has been floating through the rafters of my parent's home ever since.
We did eat our fair share of rice at home but we have extended its original meaning to included all food. It may also have been jokingly pronounced "Mom's a cow!" (she's really not, I promise! ....love you mom) but the meaning was still to indicate food on the table.
I have always loved food and science (loves inherited from my mom and dad). I graduated from Brigham Young University with my bachelors in food science and decided to use this terminal as a means by which to continue my obsession with food science and share it with the digital world at large. This part of my passion can be further explored under the "My 'nerdy' side" tab.
Recently I have also acquired a husband of a most handsome and jovial variety who is my guinea pig before any recipes are published for your browsing. So here's to hoping his pallet and mine are compatible with yours. If, however, you find that you have a more improved method or adjustment to a post, leave a comment! Collaborative efforts are always welcome here.
